Description of Casa Estrella del Mar

Casa Estrella del Mar is a unique beachfront vacation rental eco-villa located on a secluded cove, a five minute drive from the center of San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua.  Custom designed for the site by Arq. Luis Guzmán of Grupo Mosaico and built by Stemonsa, Casa Estrella del Mar represents the best of the new wave of Nicaraguan design creativity, combined with top notch traditional hand craftsmanship.  Beach stones and local hardwoods have been utilized extensively in the home.  Designed for livability and harmony with the site, only three right angles can be found in the sensuously curved layout, with emphasis on openness and outdoor living spaces.  This is one of the most charming and intimate vacation rentals in San Juan del Sur.

The house has a master bedroom with king sized bed and attached bath, guest bedroom with queen sized bed, and a third bedroom upstairs with bunk beds for four, sharing a bath with the guest bedroom.  All bedrooms have ocean views; the master and guest bedrooms feature extra wide French doors opening onto semi-private oceanfront patios.

This is a true beachfront property, looking directly over a small cove with impressive rock formations, the most prominent of which is the striking “Gorilla Head”.  A short path leads from the house to a curved beach of multicolored pebbles.  There is a small white sand beach over some rocks at the far end of the pebble beach, and the better known Peña Rota beach, a seven minute walk from the house, across a small isthmus.  The setting is simply beautiful. Both beaches have fine snorkeling; Peña Rota has a seasonal reef break for experienced surfers. At Casa Estrella del Mar, you will be in a verdant natural environment, with parrots and other bird life, occasional howler monkey calls, and whale sightings in winter months. Tide pools in your front yard make for hours of exploring by kids and the young at heart. Although San Juan del Sur, with its many excellent restaurants, clubs and activities, is only a five minute drive away, you will enjoy complete seclusion and communion with nature.

Powered by solar panels with a battery bank and a generator for backup, Casa Estrella del Mar is completely off the grid.  Ceiling and table fans, as well as abundant hot water, are provided for your comfort.  The kitchen comes fully equipped with cookware, condiments, plates, cutlery, glasses, and kitchen tools.  Outdoor speakers are ready to play your iPod.  Dedicated caretakers live in separate quarters on site, and provide around the clock security, daily cleaning, general assistance, and optional laundry and cooking services.  Mattresses, sheets, towels and pillows are all top quality.  An eight foot deep pool, along with outdoor shower, provides refreshment.  A walled garden behind the house gives respite from late afternoon sun.
